Common questions

Where is Pika in Messages?

Open a conversation, tap the plus button beside the message field, and choose Pika. If it isn’t listed, tap More and add it. The Pika app shows you where to look.

Pika shows a black screen or says it can’t use the camera.

Open Settings, scroll to Pika, and turn on Camera. On the Mac, open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera and turn on Pika.

My clip has no sound.

Sound is off by default, because signing doesn’t need it. Tap the sound button before recording; Pika asks for the microphone the first time and remembers your choice.

Why does recording stop at one minute?

Clips are capped at 60 seconds to keep messages short and quick to send. Record a second clip to say more.

Where are my clips on the Mac?

In the Pika folder inside your Movies folder. The strip in Pika’s window shows the latest ones; right-click a clip to share it or move it to the Trash.

Can I save a clip to Photos?

Pika doesn’t touch your Photos library. Once a clip is in Messages, you can save it from there like any other video.
